About Double Century

This is a narrated and archival podcast series on the history of cricket through the people and moments that made the game. We look at cricket from 200 years ago until today.

Season one was a look at some of the bigger or more interesting stories in our game. In season two we looked at race through the story of Basil D’Oliveira. Season three was on the first major win over England by each nation. Season four will be a narrated history, and season five largely oral.

We use narration, archival sound and oral histories to retell our stories.

Double Century is a team effort. Jarrod Kimber wrote, produced and narrated this series. Nick McCorriston is our producer (@Nickamc). Max Wiggins was a co-writer on season three. Our fact checker is Abhishek Mukerjee (@ovshake42) for all seasons. Bertie Moore fact checked on seasons one and two

I started with a lifetime of failure in my first 28 years. Failing at normal school, then a horticulture course, and finally film school. I flunked out everywhere. Eventually I started a film production company after years of working in factories and call centres. In my spare time started a blog called Cricket With Balls. The company started slowly, the blog exploded. Soon I was being offered work around the world, so I moved to London to see how that would go. Over the next five years, I freelanced in many random places in cricket as a writer, edited Spin Cricket magazine, was involved near the beginning of Test Match Sofa, and wrote several cricket books. Eventually I was hired for ESPNcricinfo to continue my video series 'The Two Chucks' and within a year or two I graduated to their Global Writer. In that time I also hosted a podcast with Andy Zaltzman called 'The cricket sadist hour'. It was around this period I also started radio commentary with BBC, ABC, talkSPORT and SEN. In 2018 cricket teams started asking me to work with them as an analyst. Since then, I have worked for St Lucia Stars, Scotland and Melbourne Stars while consulting with a host of other teams, players, and coaches worldwide. Now I freelance as a writer, commentary, analyst while not working on my Youtube Channel and podcasts.
