About The Famous Sloping Pitch with Nick Hancock and Chris England

Nick Hancock and Chris England are old friends who have both been struck by the same soul-shattering thought: “how is it that everything that has changed about football since I started watching it has made it a little bit more s**t?”

They both belong to that accursed generation – not old enough to remember 1966, but able to recall with piercing clarity all the years of hurt that followed. Have they really just been watching football for too long, or are they actually onto something?

Can anything be done to reverse the creeping crappification of the once-beautiful game? For a start, you can stop calling it the beautiful game – it’s lazy, glib, second-hand and fundamentally inaccurate.

Have they just been watching football for too long, or are they actually onto something? With the help of some friends from the worlds of comedy and football, they aim to find out. Previous guests include Gary Lineker, Alan Davies, Jo Brand, David Morrissey and Tim Lovejoy
