Wise Men Say

Hosts Jon and Alex look positively at the times ahead of Hull City, as they go through a make-or-break period in the club’s history. Often joined by a wide array of guests including ex city players/ managers and fans from around the world. They are a podcast duo that look at the week-by-week goings on at Hull City AFC. Originally set up during the Covid Pandemic to try and spread some joy amongst their fanbase, they have grown into a popular Hull City podcast.

Passionate Tigers’ fans Jon and Alex discuss all things Hull City weekly and regularly have feature guests that have included ex-players Brian Horton and Lawrie Dudfield, among fans from around the globe.

It started out as a venture between two young men who wanted to spread some joy for the fans of their beloved club which has grown into much more.

It’s a pod that is just like a couple of lads sitting in a pub discussing the beautiful game over a pint, they analyse the latest games and news from their club and voice their opinions in a balanced way.

Being a football fan is full of ups and downs but we try to remain a constant source of joy for our fans, where we can debate all things happening at Hull City Association Football club.

Meet the hosts

Jon

Jon

A school teacher by trade, Jon has been a Hull City fan since he laid eyes on the hallowed turf of Boothferry Park at the age of four. Jon’s reflects fondly on the move from Boothferry Park to the KCOM Stadium, and the decade that truly changed the fortunes of a club once rooted to the lower parts of the EFL. Jon is a very driven individual and has set up his own personal development page - The Purpose Cycle. He even has a history of doing a lot of coaching in Football and is a keen golfer.
Alex

Alex

Alex is a full time Retail manager living in Barton Upon Humber, North Lincolnshire, Originally growing up in East Yorkshire. Alex attended University in his nearby city and continues to work in the local area. He attended his first city game in the late 90s, being lucky enough to have a few fond memories of the clubs traditional home - Boothferry Park. He has been a season ticket holder since the early 2000’s been to both play-off finals and up and down the country with his hometown club. He has always been mad on sport and keeping healthy, he runs a Nutrition Business on the side of his full time work. He also is a trustee of the Stephen Hughes Foundation - a Charity set up in remembrance of one of his best friends passing away. He also has football commentary experience, reporting for Barton FM on the local team Barton Town FC who play in Northern Counties East League.
